Sunday, Oct 26, was a busy day! In the morning, some of the children from the Center sang during worship at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. In the afternoon, we held our annual Trunk or Treat. This year we had a special guest: Holly Lula, the clown. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful day.
This week we read a children’s book based loosely on Psalm 73, dealing with feelings of anger. Sometimes bad things happen or people don’t understand us or they are even mean. In all these circumstances, we can talk to God and He can help to calm our feelings. God teaches us to respond rightly in all circumstances. By His grace and in His love, we can again know His peace which passes all understanding.
We also spent a little time reciting the Apostles’ Creed. If you know this or would like to learn it, it is a good summary of the Christian faith for children to “grow into” over time. You can find a version here: file:///C:/Users/cschulz/Downloads/Three%20creeds.pdf
Here’s an interesting article about the importance of teaching your children the truth you know rather than letting the surrounding culture teach “truths” you may not agree with: http://blogs.lcms.org/2011/a-new-and-reckless-creed-children-and-culture-10-2011
